TCA Congratulates Oakland Schools Superintendent Dr. Wanda Cook-Robinson on Receiving Dr. Effie H. Jones Humanitarian Award

The Tri-County Alliance for Public Education (TCA) today congratulated Oakland Schools Superintendent Dr. Wanda Cook-Robinson on being awarded with the Dr. Effie H. Jones Humanitarian Award at the at the School Superintendents Association’s National Conference on Education. The award, given on February 14, honored Dr. Cook-Robinson’s commitment to the advancement and mentorship of women and minorities in positions of leadership along with her commitment to address social justice issues among children, youth and adults in schools.

“Those of us that work with Dr. Cook-Robinson know how well-deserved this award truly is as we see her commitment to its ideals both in and out of our classrooms every single day,” said TCA President & Superintendent of Farmington Schools Dr. George Heitsch. “I know that I’m speaking on behalf of the students, parents, teachers and administrators throughout Oakland County when I congratulate Dr. Cook-Robinson and thank her for leadership in our schools.”

Dr. Cook-Robinson has been superintendent of Oakland Schools since 2015, having previously served as Chief of Staff at Oakland Schools and superintendent of Southfield Public Schools. She holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Development and Supervision from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Michigan State University.
