The Tri-County Alliance for Public Education (TCA) announced today that its Board of Directors has elected Mark Greathead, Superintendent of Woodhaven-Brownstown Schools, as the organization’s new President.

“I’m honored to take on this role & help lead an organization that is fighting to ensure that every child in Michigan has equitable access to a quality education and the opportunity to succeed both in and outside of the classroom,” said Greathead. “TCA has led a number of groundbreaking efforts in recent years, including the tremendous work of the School Finance Research Collaborative, and my goal is to have us continue to lead the way in creating a stronger public education system throughout Michigan.”

Mark succeeds Dr. George Heitsch, who is stepping down following his his two-year term as TCA President and retiring this month as Superintendent of Farmington Schools.

“I was proud to help lead TCA as it unapologetically advocated for the education system we need and the opportunities our kids deserve,” added Heitsch. “I know that Mark Greathead shares those same values and beliefs in the mission of TCA and that I’m leaving the organization in excellent hands.”

In addition to electing Mark Greathead as TCA’s President, the Board elected Eve Kaltz, Superintendent of Center Line Schools, as Vice-President, Ken Gutman, Superintendent of Walled Lake Schools, as Secretary/Treasurer, and asked Dr. Russell Pickell, Superintendent of Riverview Schools, to retain the role of Immediate Past President.

Robert McCann will continue to serve as the organization’s Executive Director.
