The K-12 Alliance of Michigan today released the following statement from Mark Greathead, Superintendent of Woodhaven-Brownstown Schools and President of K-12 Alliance, in response to $842 million in federal COVID-19 relief funding for schools remaining unappropriated as a result of the latest round of Lansing politics.

“As our elected officials continue to play politics with even the most basic Government functions, we need them to take a step back and think about who they are impacting: our kids. Our students are already working hard to push forward from this pandemic and not a single one of them cares about who is winning these power battles in Lansing — they are simply asking for the support they need to recover and succeed once again. Everyone involved needs to set aside their politics — even on just this one issue — and focus on what our students need right now, as anything less than that will only create further delays in our ability to implement critical recovery efforts that include making up for lost learning time, improving the health and safety of our classrooms and hiring the teachers, tutors and other staff needed to assist our students immediately.”
