The K-12 Alliance of Michigan today announced it has selected Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) as the recipient of the 2022 Champion for Students Award, citing her well-established track record of helping students and schools thrive. During the pandemic, Congresswoman Lawrence has been a key figure in ensuring Michigan schools receive funding necessary to ensure students receive the support needed to grow academically, socially and emotionally.

“I am honored to accept the Champion for Students Award from the K-12 Alliance of Michigan. From serving on a school board to mayor to Congress, education has always been at the heart of my public service work,” said Rep. Lawrence. “I’ll continue to support the work of the K-12 Alliance of Michigan and our students, teachers, and administrators. There’s a lot of work we need to do, because we know that an investment in our children and their education is an investment in our country’s future.”
